Nexus Film Lab
Maybe you want to write. Maybe you want to direct. Maybe you want to act, shoot, edit, or simply understand how films actually come together. Nexus Film Lab gives you a place to stop watching from the outside and start creating with other people.
You do not need to know exactly where you fit yet.
The Gap
A lot of people want to make films. Some already write. Some own cameras. Some act. Some have watched enough tutorials to know the terminology.
But putting all of those pieces together into a story that actually works is different.
That is where we start.
How It Works

We begin with the story. We write, develop the scene, think through characters, plan the shots, and prepare to make it real.
Then we make it. Participants may write, act, direct, operate cameras, help with sound or lighting, or simply observe the creative decisions happening in real time. This is also where most Q&A happens.
Then we bring everything together. Participants see how each piece shapes what the audience ultimately experiences.
A demonstration of the final storytelling process, not a full editing class.
The Bigger Picture
The goal is not simply to know more about filmmaking.
It is learning how to take an idea and turn it into something another person can experience.
A story can make someone
Film is the tool.
Story is what gives the tool a purpose.
Real Stories. Real People.
The work speaks for itself. No filler. Just films made by people with something to say.

Why It Matters
You do not leave knowing everything about filmmaking. You leave having experienced the process.
You understand more about how stories are developed. You have participated in an actual production. You begin seeing where your interests and strengths may fit.
And most importantly, you have made something instead of simply thinking about making something.
Two Ways to Grow
Join us for a new filmmaking experience each month. Come write, plan, act, direct, shoot, ask questions, learn, and help bring a short film to life. No previous filmmaking experience is required. You can join at any time. Each month features a new story and a new filmmaking experience.
The Film Intensive is for people who want to go deeper. Instead of only experiencing the filmmaking process, we slow it down so you can understand how to make those decisions yourself.
We spend more time breaking down
Approximately two months of more frequent instruction, deeper hands-on practice, direct feedback, and greater access.
Film Lab: Make films with us.
Film Intensive: Learn how to make them yourself.
Film Trips
Your Film Lab may have a regular home, but some stories need a different environment. Some months we may take a Film Trip and shoot somewhere that better serves the story.
